Fisherman’s Friends is packed to the gunnels with a disparate troupe of characters all with one thought in mind – to have fun in, on or beside the sea.
The owl and the pussycat have traded up their pea green boat for a fishing smack called The White Stag; Florence the Flamingo just fancied a paddle; Jormungandr, the legendary Midgard Serpent from Ragnarok, is on his holidays and having a quick snack of “fish ‘n ships” as he doesn’t want to spoil his dinner; and the octopus brothers, Olly and little Inky, are just hanging out and causing mayhem
There are jellyfish, lapwings, a couple of seahorses having a bad mane day, a passing whale, and even two Whoopers dancing the pas de deux from Swan Lake atop the Jolly Roger.
And, topping the bill, we have Dogberry the Clown taking a break from his run in Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing at the Old Vic. The devil is always in the detail, so if you zoom right in you’ll find him in the trawler with his favourite balloon. He seldom goes anywhere without it.
